Nordstrom: It All Starts with the Shoes

From humble beginnings, chain has gained a cachet for its overall quality and selection – yet sizing and fitting of its shoes remains a hallmark that has endeared it most of all.

"Nice to have the Nordstrom name here, finally," was the prevailing sentiment – "but wish it were a full-line Nordstrom store." After Thursday's announcement that Wauwatosa will, indeed, have its wish, a three-level Nordstrom department store at Mayfair Mall come late 2015, the enthusiasm of shoppers is nigh onto unbridled. "I was jumping up and down with excitement when I saw it on the news," Christine Brown Wyatt said on Fox Point-Bayside Patch's Facebook page. "Not too safe to do while on a treadmill …

Funny...the company I work for has just recently hired 4 full-time and 2 part-time manufacturing positions. (Making a total of 57 full-timers, with good benefits.) We are also slated to break ground on a 50,000 sq. ft addition in January, and our 2012 sales have increased 16.1% over 2011. (To over $36MM.) 2013 is also expected to be a record year. The CEO and owner of our company brags about …   more ›

Nuitari... there's a guy on Facebook by the name of Benjamin Riche who started an event page about that. I think that's a real fear and quite frankly, I contacted him but he then made some disparaging remark about the Onion being interactive. I tried... but I think you are right. If you have any ideas on who to talk to... I'm listening.   more ›

President Barack Obama: 'Real Change is Hard,' But Worth the Fight

During campaign stop with singer Katy Perry in Milwaukee Saturday that drew an estimated 20,000 people, Obama says: "I am here today because there is more work to do."

With just days to go before what will likely be a close election both in Wisconsin and nationally, thousands of people filled the Delta Center in Milwaukee Saturday afternoon to hear President Barack Obama promise to keep fighting for the middle class. As soon as he took the podium before a crowd estimated at 20,000, Obama promised to get help to the victims of Hurricane Sandy and asked those in attendance to pray and donate to the Red Cross, if they were able to do so. His speech then turned to his campaign theme of “Forward." His primary message was about continuing the policies of his administration to provide a voice for the middle class while also growing and supporting a strong middle class. Thanx JW, from the beginning I was thinking similarly; Healthcare costs are out of control. Who cares if you can afford insurance, if you cannot afford the balance after the insurance paid their share? The cost of care is what needs to be made affordable!   more ›

Been there done that: I take it you are using every ounce of your 99 weeks of unemployment? Any decent employer will not hire someone like you, even at $10-12/ hr. Your best bet is get used to saying,"Would you like fries with that?" Though I doubt you are the type to want to work for a living, what page(s) is your signature on?   more ›

Traffic was backed up to the Cedarburg exit at Highway C on Tuesday morning when seven cars collided on Interstate 43.

The North Shore Fire Department reported a seven-car crash around 7:26 a.m. Tuesday.  Traffic on Interstate-43 was brought to a crawl, but NSFD is reporting no injuries at this time.  By 8 a.m., a grey Hyundai was being loaded onto a tow truck just North of the Brown Deer Road exit, and multiple other vehicles waited in line to also be towed.  As of 8:10 a.m., traffic was still at a crawl heading south on I-43. Dozens of cars were getting off the freeway at the Mequon Road exit and backing up Port Washington Road heading south. Many were also driving down the emergency lane for more than one mile before the Mequon Road exit to inch toward the exit.
