Business Year in Review: 1 New Grocery In, 1 to be Remodeled

Fresh Market opened in April, and now Sendik's plans an expansion and remodeling at the location across the intersection. Look back at commercial changes in 2012 in Fox Point and Bayside.

Fox Point and Bayside have seen a couple of significant changes on the business landscape in 2012, though the biggest is perhaps to come. In mid-December, the “red bag” Sendik’s family announced it was purchasing the Bayside Sendik’s and the entire accompanying building, with eyes on renovation and expansion in 2013. Just across the Brown Deer Road/Port Washington Road intersection, another grocery store already staked out its turf. Fresh Market opened in April, the 21,000-square-foot store filling the vacancy left by Borders bookstore in the River Point Shopping Center. Also in the River Point Shopping Center, Red Mango became the local entry in the frozen yogurt craze with its early September opening. Owners Peter and Elizabeth Braatz …

"We'll be offering a quick and easy way to fill your tank while carrying on the rich tradition we have established of providing the best shopping experience, period."  Ted Balistreri announced Thursday that his branch of the Sendik's markets will partner with Devo Properties of Mequon to purchase the entire shopping corridor from Sendik's gas pumps east to Mohawk Road. This purchase includes …

The Lift Pilates Studio Coming Soon to Fox Point

New pilates studio is only one of two in the Midwest featuring vertical pilates training.

The Lift Pilates Studio is on it's way to Audubon Court. The new pilates studio hopes to be in by July and will bring not only another way to get fit in Fox Point, but a unique angle to pilates. “We will be one of only two studios in the Midwest to offer this new CoreAlign training,” said Patty McNichols, owner. It is only available in Chicago and in a few places in the far western United States.  “We will be unique in the Milwaukee area.” CoreAlign is a form of vertical training, whereas pilates is mostly horizontal. It's an exercise system that was recently developed by Jonathan Hoffman, a physical therapist from Israel who emphasizes the importance of understanding and mastering the body’s kinetics. “People need more standing these days…
