A 47-year-old Milwaukee man is accused of his fourth drunken driving offense in five years, after Bayside police pulled him over on April 27, driving with a blood alcohol content at more than twice the legal limit.  Monroe Walton II was charged April 29 with one felony count of operating while intoxicated (fourth offense in five years), one felony count of operating with prohibited alcohol concentration (fourth offense in five years) and one count of misdemeanor operating while revoked.  If convicted, he faces up to 13 years imprisonment, or 22,500 in fines, or both. Drunk Driver Threatened to Kick Cops in the Groin

After crashing into a street sign on Lake Drive, the 28-year-old Milwaukee woman threatened officers and dug her fingernails into a cop's skin.

A drunk driver who crashed her car into a Bayside street sign is facing several criminal charges after digging her fingernails into a cop's hand and threatening to kick him in the groin. A local resident told police that he witnessed the driver, a 28-year-old Milwaukee woman, crash into a street sign in the 9300 block of Lake Drive at 10:44 a.m. on April 7. The witness then watched her fall into the ditch as she walked around the vehicle to look at her shattered windshield and front-end damage. She tried to drive away from the scene, but a Fox Point police officer stopped her vehicle. She told police she was lost and looking for the interstate.  The officer gathered the names of the three females in the car, but realized the 19-year-old …

Threatening to kill yourself only makes it worse. I was downtown once picking someone up from jail and the woman beside me was also waiting for someone. Turned out she had drove an hour to get there, sat 5 hours to bail him out and then got told to come back in a week because he was being "evaluated" for threatening to kill himself.   more ›

Which Occasion Inspires Wisconsin's Heaviest Drinking?

Sunday's St. Patrick's Day is among the biggest binge drinking events of the year in Wisconsin. Is it the biggest?

Almost any national ranking of alcohol consumption finds Wisconsin near the top. Forbes Magazine named Milwaukee “America’s Drunkest City” in 2006. A story from 24/7 Wall St. ranked the state No. 6 among beer-drinking states in 2011, citing statistics that say Wisconsin has more binge drinkers and heavy drinkers than any other. And at least one study suggests Wisconsin has the most drunk drivers in the nation. In a state that loves to find an excuse to lift a glass, which special event inspires the most drinking to excess? Vote in our poll and discuss the issue in our Comment stream.

After a hit-and-run accident and drunk driving arrest, a Mequon man got feisty with police and hospital security guards during a blood draw last week.

Even after a hit-and-run accident and a drunk driving arrest, a 78-year-old Mequon man still had enough fight left in him to swing and kick at police officers and security guards during a blood draw at St. Mary's Hospital last week. Glendale and Fox Point police were dispatched to the area of Green Tree Road and Port Washington for a hit-and-run accident at 5:25 p.m. Jan. 14. Day Drinker Tells Cops He Just Wants to Walk Home

Police found an empty can of Milwaukee's Best under the passenger seat when searching the car.

A Fox Point man told police he just wanted to walk home after they caught him allegedly drunk driving and sporting a fake registration sticker on his car. However, police determined that wasn't the best option after finding an empty can of Milwaukee's Best under the seat.  Bayside police were patrolling near the Brown Deer and Port Washington Roads intersection just before 3 p.m. on Dec. 30 when a DOT check on a nearby vehicle showed expired registration, despite having a 2013 sticker. Police pulled the 46-year-old Fox Point man over and the man said he didn’t have his license on him. Police could smell alcohol on the driver’s breath, according to the report, and his eyes were glassy and bloodshot. He denied drinking and was able to recite…
