Parking Near Police Department Proves Bad Idea for Drunken Driver

Milwaukee woman arrested by Fox Point police early Sunday morning.

Parking between the Fox Point Police Department and Village Hall wasn't exactly a great idea for a 41-year-old Milwaukee woman early Sunday morning. A Fox Point police officer noticed a vehicle parked between the department and Village Hall on Santa Monica Boulevard around 3:15 a.m. Sunday. When approached by an officer and asked why she was there, the woman said she had run out of gas. The officer noticed her eyes were red and glassy and speech was slurred. He asked if she’d been drinking, and she explained that she had two vodka drinks a few hours prior to dropping her friend off at their home on Green Tree Road and Teutonia Avenue. The driver also admitted that her license was suspended. Due to the wind and cold weather, the officer …

At a Barbecue Without Booze? Officers Think Not

Milwaukee man arrested for OWI told police he wasn't drinking, just at a barbecue in Bayside.

A Bayside police officer noticed a vehicle traveling West on Brown Deer Road near Interstate 43 on Friday without lights on at 3:15 a.m. After pulling the vehicle over, the driver said it was all about the barbecue. Police came to a different conclusion.  The officer asked the driver, a 24-year-old Milwaukee man, if he had been drinking. The driver said he hadn't, but rather was just leaving a barbecue with friends in Bayside. Throughout his explanation, the officer noted the man's glassy eyes and the smell of alcohol on his breath.  During the standard field sobriety test, the officer asked the man to recite the alphabet, without singing it. The driver got to the letter "L" making it nearly half way through, before he started repeating …

Sheboygan Man Lost Between Bayside and Mequon

This OWI arrest took two sets of handcuffs.

On Thursday just before 10 p.m., a Bayside officer noticed a vehicle pull over to the shoulder on West County Line Road. The driver got out of the vehicle and crossed North Port Washington Road. The officer pulled up to the 54-year-old Sheboygan man, rolled down his passenger window and asked if he needed any help. The man admitted he was lost enroute to Sheboygan. The officer explained the driver could head north and get back on Interstate 43 through Mequon. The man asked if there was an easier way so he wouldn’t get lost, and the officer directed him to the southbound ramp at County Line Road, explaining he could head south, since the entrance ramp was right in front of his car, then get off on the next exit, Brown Deer Road, and turn …

Underage Drinker Can't Complete the Alphabet

An 18-year-old Fox Point man caught driving drunk on Lake Drive.

Two 18-year-olds were driving along the 8600 block of North Lake Drive on Sunday at 3 a.m. and caught the attention of a Bayside police officer. This Fox Point driver cruised at varying speeds, fluctuating between 45 mph and 50 mph in only a 30 mph speed zone. The officer flashed his emergency lights and pulled the man over. As customary, the officer proceeded to ask the standard questions and mid conversation, noticed the scent of alcohol on his breath and that his eyes were glossy and bloodshot. When asked if he’d been drinking, he said "no," but said that his also 18-year-old girlfriend, the passenger in vehicle, had been drinking and he was driving her home. He completed nearly all the field sobriety tests, but stumbled over a hurdle …

He thought he was on North Avenue, but really he was going North on Santa Monica Boulevard.

He thought he was still on North Avenue in Milwaukee after a night of drinking, but on April 29 at around 6 a.m., he was traveling North on Santa Monica Boulevard in Fox Point. The 26-year-old Milwaukee man was speeding in the 6500 block of North Santa Monica Boulevard, going 36 mph in a 25 mph zone. A Fox Point officer noticed, flipped on his emergency lights, and approached the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, the officer smelled strong alcohol odors emitting from his driver's breath. Revoked License Doesn't Trump Missing Interlock Device for Previous OWI Offender

Grafton man caught speeding, tells police he thought it didn't matter if there was no interlock device because his license was revoked anyway.

A 24-year-old Grafton man was stopped for speeding at 12:42 a.m. by Bayside Police on Thursday at Interstate-43 and Brown Deer Road. He was clocked going 72 mph in a 55 mph zone heading northbound on I-43 from the Brown Deer Road onramp. When the officer approachd the car, the man admitted he did not have a drivers license and that it was revoked. A computereized check with both Wisconsin and Michigan transportation departments confirmed that the driver did not hold a valid license in either state. In fact, his Wisconsin license was revoked for a prior OWI offense which now restricts him to only driving vehicles with an ignition interlock device. That device is a small tube-like instrument that checks for a driver's blood alcohol content …

A 20-Year-Old Mequon Woman Arrested With Pot and All The Accessories

Bayside officers cited her for OWI and possession.

If there's a chance of an officer pulling you over, it's probably not a great idea to have mountains of paraphernalia in the front seat, in plain view in your car. On April 24, at 2:06 a.m., a 20-year-old Mequon woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated and possession of drug paraphernalia. While traveling north on I-43 in a 55 mph zone, she was clocked going 73 mph by a Bayside police officer. He activated his emergency lights and took off. After she pulled over, the officer completed a search of the vehicle, discovering not just a single pipe, but a red, metal container with a green leafy substance, seven glass containers with THC residue on them, two glass pipes also with THC residue, two baggies, one bath salt, and two Tums …

Crime Corner: Drunk Driver Blows Through Red Light, Hits Another Vehicle in Bayside

Also in the reports: a car is stolen, a missing stroller is found, and fines are paid.

Bayside police received a call to the 400 block of West Brown Deer Road on Friday and found two vehicles near First Star Bank at 11:10 p.m. The first vehicle had two wheels on the sidewalk and two on the roadway. The driver, a 29-year-old woman from Pewaukee, was talking on a cell phone when officers arrived. The office asked her if everything was OK, she replied that she had just been in an accident, pointed to another vehicle parked about 60 feet ahead and said that the car “just hit me.” The driver was unharmed, but when she spoke, officers said her speech was slurred and her eyes were glassy and red. The officer walked over to the other vehicle and he could see that the passenger door and window was smashed. The passenger, a 29-year-…

Third-Time OWI Offender Arrested By Fox Point Police

Officers didn't notice erratic driving, but only running lights at 1 a.m.

A 53-year-old Glendale man was driving around at 1 a.m. with just his running lights on, and that caught the attention of Fox Point police. On Sunday, in the 8000 block of North Port Washington Road, police pulled this man over because he was driving without all the appropriate lights on. But when the officer put his emergency lights on, the driver did not pull over, only slowed. When the sirens were activated, he finally made his way to the side of the road and stopped. The officer went up to speak to the man, and noticed his speech was slurred and slow, and his eyes were glassy. When asked for his license, the man explained that it was revoked. When asked if he’d been drinking, he did not even reply. The man completed the field sobriety …

Milwaukee Woman Arrested for OWI in Bayside

Officer asks for the keys and she hands him a soda can.

A 32-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested Saturday after she told Bayside police, "I hate you." The woman was parked on the street, outside of a home in the 9000 block of N. Bayside Dr. at about 10:15 p.m. A resident called police because the vehicle had been there for at least a half hour, with the lights on, and brake lights were going on and off periodically. When the officer arrived, the headlights were on, but the car was not running. The woman was sitting in the drivers seat, eyes closed, and her head was leaning against the seat facing the driver-side window. The officer knocked on the window for 15-20 seconds before she finally opened her eyes. There was also a small dog sitting in the passenger seat. When asked what she was doing…

How the hell is that operating while under the influence when she was not operating the vehicle, only sitting in her car? Doesn't the car needs to be running to operate it? The officer should have taken the women keys and took her to the station until she sobered up. Since it was in Bayside I wouldn't expect anything less since you don't have real crimes to fight you are in a hurry to arrest …   more ›
