About 30 gas line meter sets and other assorted scrap metal was stolen off the back of a truck parked in the Fox Point Pool parking lot. The gas line meters, valued at $4,500, were stolen off an unattended flatbed trailer in the parking lot sometime between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. May 8. The meters belonged to KS Energy, who was contracted by We Energies to complete gas line work in the village. The employees left the area for several hours and returned to find the missing equipment, which they estimated would have taken 15 to 20 minutes to take. Two retail thefts were reported at Best Buy last week, according to Fox Point police records. A man who attempted to steal video games from Best Buy –but then changed his mind – was cited for attempted retail theft last week. Best Buy security camera footage shows a male in his 20s concealing PlayStation 3 video games in his pockets at 12:05 p.m. on April 25. He later put some of the video games down, and was found playing a video game at one of the display consoles when officers arrived. Officers patted the man down and found three large sheets of aluminum foil in his pant pockets, apparently in an attempt to throw off the security alarms. A night of celebration and drinks later devolved into a sobering drunk driving arrest for one Mequon woman passing through Fox Point last week. The woman caught the attention of a police officer when she came to a complete stop at a flashing yellow light at Port Washington Road and Dean Road at 1:41 a.m. on April 24. The officer ran the woman's driver's license and saw that her license had been suspended. When she was pulled over, she said she had drank three or four glasses of wine at Saz's earlier in the evening, and that she knew she was driving oddly. The 15-year-old boy attempted to evade police on his bicycle when they spotted him out past curfew.
A 15-year-old bicyclist had two beers and a bottle of champagne in his backpack when he was caught by Fox Point police last week. The boy was riding his bicycle east on Dean Road on April 20 at 1:11 a.m. – well past curfew. When he saw the Fox Point squad car, he made a quick u-turn on Dean Road, made a left turn into Indian Creek Park and rode through the grass and playground area before the officer told him to stop. The boy dropped his backpack down behind a bush, but that didn't stop the officer from asking about it. Inside the backpack was an unopened bottle of Korbel champagne and two unopened cans of Budweiser beer. The boy did not have any alcohol in his system, based on a breath test. A Fox Point man called police after receiving 63 harassing text messages from a former employee. The man told Fox Point police that he owns a Boost mobile kiosk at Regency Mall in Racine. Days earlier, he had reported to Racine Police that two cell phones and $100 in cash had gone missing from the kiosk. The owner asked the kiosk manager, who denied taking the items but resigned on the spot. On April 8 at 9:23 p.m., the Fox Point man started to receive strange messages on his cell phone from the former employee. A drunk driver who crashed her car into a Bayside street sign is facing several criminal charges after digging her fingernails into a cop's hand and threatening to kick him in the groin. A local resident told police that he witnessed the driver, a 28-year-old Milwaukee woman, crash into a street sign in the 9300 block of Lake Drive at 10:44 a.m. on April 7. The witness then watched her fall into the ditch as she walked around the vehicle to look at her shattered windshield and front-end damage. She tried to drive away from the scene, but a Fox Point police officer stopped her vehicle. She told police she was lost and looking for the interstate. A Fox Point police officer may be facing felony jail time, if one believes the words of a hiker caught urinating on Lake Drive last week. Fox Point police received a report of a man urinating on the side of the road at Lake Drive and Dean Road at 7:27 a.m. March 27. Police officer stopped someone matching the description in the 8700 block of Lake Drive. The man, who was identified by a Florida driver's license, said he was a professional hiker hiking the Highway 32 trail. He continuously told the police officer that he was a federal judge and that the officer was guilty of several felony actions. A 26-year-old woman was cited for drunken driving after slurring her speech at Open Pantry early Saturday morning. The clerk at Open Pantry called dispatch at 2:06 a.m. Saturday to report the woman slurred her speech while in the store, and was headed northbound on Interstate 43 from Brown Deer Road. The vehicle later returned to the gas station, where police officers caught up to the vehicle. According to a Bayside police report, a Bayside squad car blocked the front of the vehicle from driving anywhere. Upon seeing the officer, the female in the driver's seat put the car into gear, but the officer on scene told her to turn the engine off. A simple retail theft resulted in a hairy situation when Fox Point cops eventually caught up to the suspected shoplifters on I-43. Police received a report of shoplifting at Sally Beauty Supply at RiverPoint shopping center at 3:46 p.m. on March 7. An employee reported three women and a man left the store without paying for scissors and hair shears. Based on a vehicle description, Fox Point police were able to catch up to the southbound vehicle on I-43 near the Hampton Avenue exit. On the floor of the passenger seat, police found two packages of human hair, an acrylic nail kit and a manicure set. Threatening to kill yourself only makes it worse. I was downtown once picking someone up from jail and the woman beside me was also waiting for someone. Turned out she had drove an hour to get there, sat 5 hours to bail him out and then got told to come back in a week because he was being "evaluated" for threatening to kill himself.   more ›
