After 15 years in education and coaching, Brad Kozaczuk said he has never been physically threatened like he was at Nicolet High School. However, administration says the evidence shows the situation never should have escalated as much as it did.

When Brad Kozaczuk was hired as head football coach last fall at Nicolet High School, he thought he had finally found a place to make a name for himself. He brought with him a winning record from numerous other schools - not only in Wisconsin, but across the country. However, after an altercation with a student and his subsequent resignation, Kozaczuk wonders if he'll ever be able to teach in Wisconsin again. "It was an ugly situation," Kozaczuk told Patch. "There was yelling; she was swearing at me. It was a really ugly situation." On March 30, Kozaczuk was supervising a study hall when a senior girl loudly and aggressively drew attention to a new student who was using a cell phone, which is not allowed at Nicolet. I've known Coach for many years now. He is a great teacher who has a real passion for working with children. If our society continues to indulge the unacceptable behavior of disrespectful and unruly children at the expense of teachers, I truly fear for our future. Nickolas DeMark   more ›

Letter from a Dad: Fox Point-Bayside Superintendent Must Go

Parent concerned to learn that Fox Point-Bayside District Administrator Rachel Boechler kept quiet a student-teacher relationship at a previous job in the Wauwatosa School District.

Editor's Note: In January, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published a story that shed some light on what residents are calling a moral issue with current District Administrator Rachel Boechler - her silence after a 16-year-old student confided to Boechler that she was having a sexual relationship with a 28-year-old teacher. That happened when she was a counselor at Wauwatosa East High School. This letter was written and sent to the Fox Point-Bayside School Board by Tad Walter, a Fox Point resident and father of two children who attend school in the district.  ______________________________ To the members of the Fox Point-Bayside School Board:  I am very concerned by the January article in the Journal Sentinel regarding Superintendent …

I agree with your main point of Ms. Boechler's performance failure. As a therapist, I can assure you and everyone else, that 20 years ago the law was just as clear as it is today about statutory rape as well as mandatory reporting laws involving school personnel. The student's age should have been one of the first things to confirm in this situation in addition to IMMEDIATELY reporting the …   more ›
