Shooting stars will be flying early in the morning in the Fox Point and Bayside area. The Orionids meteor shower promises to be a show worth watching.
The offspring of Halley's Comet are about to put on quite a show in the skies of Fox Point and Bayside. Earth will pass through a stream of debris from Halley's Comet beginning Oct. 15, which will give us the benefit of the annual Orionids meteor shower — though you probably won't see much until a bit later. The best place to view the shower is near the northern end of Bayside near the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center or East near Doctors Park (far away from city lights). No viewing parties have been organized in the area, but if you plan to host one please add it to the Fox Point-Bayside Patch calendar. About 2,500 runners will hit the streets on Sunday for the 32nd annual Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon, and that means some area road closures, too. Plus, check out who's joining from Fox Point and Bayside. Good luck!
About 2,500 runners will hit the streets on Sunday for the 32nd annual Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon, and that means some area road closures, too. The run starts at 7:30 a.m. at Grafton High School, 1950 Washington St. and snakes 26.41 miles south along Lake Michigan taking runners through a hefty chunk of Fox Point and Bayside, according to the event website. Specifically, the local roads impacted are North Port Washington Road from County Line to Fairy Chasm, down Lake Drive past the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, continuing along Lake Drive all the way to finish line at Veterans Park in Milwaukee. The race starts at 7:30 and closures will likely last two hours. Of the 2,500 runners, 33 are from the Fox Point and Bayside area. Here's …
