School officials and athletic boosters are looking at $1.5 million in renovations that would put in a new 8-lane track, install Astroturf on the football field and replace bleachers and concessions.
Nicolet school officials are in the planning stages of a $1.5 million renovation to the athletic field. The renovations would add an 8-lane track, install Astroturf on the football field and replace bleachers and concession areas. Superintendent Rick Monroe said Monday boosters want to meet soon with the School Board and school administrators to discuss possibly expanding the plan to include a new baseball and softball field. With budget woes a constant, Monroe said the renovation will be completely paid for by a fundraising campaign. With a 44-0 win over Nicolet Friday night, the Blue Dukes move into the playoffs as the North Shore Conference champions for the first time since 1993.
For the first time in nearly two decades, the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes can call themselves North Shore Conference champs. With a 44-0 victory over Nicolet High School Friday night, the Blue Dukes were named conference co-champions – tying with Homestead, which the Blue Dukes beat last week. Now, the Blue Dukes advance to the playoffs. Although Whitefish Bay and Homestead are technically tied as far as the North Shore Conference is concerned, the Blue Dukes' win over the Highlanders will be factored into the playoff bracket, which has not yet been drafted. David Hobbs Honda and PNC Bank Mortgage will be the primary corporate sponsors for the annual fundraiser happening June 16 at the Silver Spring Country Club.
After falling about $5,000 short of their goal last year, the Nicolet Athletic Department is hoping to reach this year's goal of $20,000 with another round at the Silver Spring Country Club. This is the fourth year for the outing and has raised nearly $15,000 in prevoius years. The money goes to improving athletic facilities, spirit wear and equpiment neeeds. “The donations have helped us upgrade the scoreboards in the gym, and things such as improve the well being of Nicolet’s athletic teams,” Athletic Director Kirk Krychowiak said. Ralph Rinehart is a former Nicolet High School parent and golf outing committee member. He teed off the fundraiser four years ago in hopes of improving the football facilities.
