As Steve Cannon runs for cancer research around Lake Michigan, he's showing off his Patch pride with a water bottle filled with flowers.
It's a task many people only attempt once, not 40 times. Steve Cannon is running 40 marathons in 40 days to raise awareness and money for cancer research. Patch met up with Cannon at Klode Park in Whitefish Bay two weeks ago at Klode Park in Whitefish Bay. He explained what drives him to take on the 1,037 mile trek in this video. We gave him a Patch T-shirt and water bottle to say thanks and now he's showing off that Patch pride by documenting some of his stops with a flower-filled water bottle in front of noticeable landmarks. Steve Cannon is running a marathon around Lake Michigan to raise money for cancer awareness and research and he stopped in Milwaukee Wednesday.
An Iowa man is running 40 marathons in 40 days around Lake Michigan to raise money for cancer awareness and cancer research. Patch caught up with Cannon at Klode Park in Whitefish Bay on Wednesday and he explained what he thinks about when he's running and who and what fuels his drive to continue. This marathon will take him 1,037 miles along the entire Lake Michigan coastline, the sixth-largest lake in the world. He’s keeping fans updated on Facebook as well, with posts about everything from what he’s having for breakfast, like a double-decker salami and cheese sandwich, to his relationship with “Mom,” his nickname for Lake Michigan. An Iowa man is making his way along the North Shore during his 40 marathons in 40 days to help find a cure for cancer — and he’s looking for runners to join him. Steve Cannon began his Run to Cure Cancer on Sunday at Navy Pier in Chicago, IL. He plans to run the 1,037 miles along the entire Lake Michigan coastline, the sixth-largest lake in the world. His trip will take him through many different towns, including some surrounding Milwaukee. Cannon has completed more than 30 marathons already according to a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article, many of which have been 24-hour races, but his goal with this race is not the length of the journey, but to raise awareness and hope for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
