Vance Dalzin Chosen as New Fox Point-Bayside School Chief

After a roughly three-month search, school officials have chosen their next superintendent who will take over the post from resigning Rachel Boechler.

After a roughly three-month search, Fox Point-Bayside school officials have chosen Vance Dalzin to take over as district superintendent next school year.  Dalzin has been superintendent of Williams Bay School District in Williams Bay, WI since August 2011, which borders Geneva Lake in Walworth County. He will be introduced at Tuesday night's school board meeting, which begins at 7 in the Board Room at Stormonth Elementary School, 7301 N. Longarce Rd.  Before taking the helm at Williams Bay, Dalzin was high school principal for Whitewater Unified School District from 1999 to 2011, high school principal for Wilmot Union High School District from 1994 to 1999, and assistant principal for Wilmot from 1991 to 1994. Nicolet Administrator Invited to Second Interview for Greenfield Superintendent

After interviewing last week, Elliott interviewed again on Monday for Greenfield School District superintendent — a district where she previously spent 20 years.

Nicolet Director of Curriculum and Instruction Lisa Elliott is one of two candidates invited back for a second round of interviews as the Greenfield School District continues its search for a new superintendent. After interviewing last week, Elliott interviewed again on Monday, and toured the district’s facilities. Elliott spent 20 years in the Greenfield school system, serving in teaching roles and as principal, before joining Nicolet in Aug. 2011.  Elliott and the other candidate — Lynette Zimmer, Superintendent of Prairie Grove Consolidated District 46 in Illinois — are not finalists, consultant Dr. Louis Birchbauer said.  The Greenfield School Board has “several options after this evening,” he said. “If everything goes well, they can …

How Much Do School Administrators Make?

Use our interactive database to see which school administrators are the highest and lowest paid throughout the state of Wisconsin.

Editor's Note: This story has been modified to clarify information about Maple Dale-Indian Hills district administrator salaries. School adminstrator salaries in the Nicolet High School District are largely in line with nearby communities, according to data compiled by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Superintendent Rick Monroe was paid $154,899, while Fox Point-Bayside Superintendent Rachel Boechler earned $135,000 and Maple Dale-Indian Hill Superintendent Mary Jordan Dean received $73,987 for her work as the district administrator. But because Jordan Dean also acts as principal at Maple Dale Middle School, her total salary includes an additional $73,987 for that position, bringing the total to $147,974. The numbers are …

Districts Take Divergent Approach to Developing Teacher Evaluations

Nicolet and Fox Point-Bayside have joined state consortium, however Maple Dale-Indian Hill is designing their own.

The Nicolet and Fox Point-Bayside School Districts aren't waiting for the state to tell them what to do regarding teacher evaluations. They are among 30 districts who have joined the Southeastern Wisconsin Teacher Evaluation Consortium, in response to Gov. Scott Walker’s initiative in school accountability. "That's the goal, to tie teacher compensation with the evaluations to make the evaluations more meaningful," Nicolet District Administrator Rick Monroe said at the October School Board meeting. He explained that part of the evaluation process will be things like student growth and progress. Fox Point-Bayside District Administrator Rachel Boechler said it's about support for both teachers and students. “In the advent of the changing …

Stop tinkering with education. The problem doesn't lie with the schools and teachers so much as it does with the intersection of the media, the internet, and poorer parenting. Parents now work in an environment that has been so speeded up electronically, that they are forced to do the work of one and one half employees. They are constantly on call. They are getting burned out. They don't have a …   more ›
