Patti, I'm catching up on all this Stormonth business since our child may attend there next year. This is all new to me, but I wanted to say how sorry I felt for your son. I don't have the details, but I agree with you, enough of this logo business. Congrats to your son from an outsider.   more ›

Nicolet Begins Interviews with Superintendent Candidates

The School Board is conducting interviews in closed session Friday and Saturday.

Nicolet school officials began interviewing candidates for superintendent Friday.  Illinois-based consulting firm, Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates, was hired to aid in the search for a new school chief after Nicolet High School Superintendent Rick Monroe announced he would retire at the end of the school year.  The School Board will interview candidates in closed session Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. It's unclear how many candidates have been invited for interview.  Nicolet didn't return a reporter's voicemail seeking comment.  The consultant used a list of 10 characteristics the school community wanted to see in its new superintendent. The list emerged after the firm held focus groups, interviewed 103 employees and community …

17 Superintendent Applicants So Far

The firm tasked with hunting for someone to replace Fox Point-Bayside Superintendent Rachel Boechler is ready to start screening candidates, using characteristics developed by the community to guide the process

The firm tasked with hunting for new candidates to fill the shoes of leaving Fox Point-Bayside Superintendent Rachel Boechler is ready to begin the process of screening candidates. Illinois-based consulting firm, Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates, met with community members and district staff earlier this month to explore what they would like to see in the person who replaces Boechler.  Kim Perkins said his firm has fielded 17 applicants for Fox Point-Bayside superintendent, and he expects a big boost in interest over holiday breaks.  When asked by a resident if he felt the pool of candidates is watered down, with several districts in the state seeking new school chiefs, Perkins said the education field isn't as appealing as it once was…

I notice that "creativity" is not on the list. The old ways do not work as well as they did. Teachers and administrators often have the same degrees, and yet the "collaboration" usually comes from the top down. It will be even worse now that there is no union to protect a teacher who does not agree with an administrator's way of doing something. Teachers are required by the district to stay …   more ›

Nicolet's Next Superintendent Should Be...

The search firm hired to find the district's next superintendent will be looking for someone who exemplifies 10 characteristic identified by community members. It expects to begin screening candidates soon.

The firm tasked with hunting for new candidates to fill the shoes of retiring Nicolet Superintendent Rick Monroe said Tuesday it will begin the process of screening candidates. Illinois-based consulting firm, Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates, met with community members and district staff earlier this morning to explore what they would like to see in the person who replaces Monroe.  Part of that screening, said consultant David Smith, will be matching candidates against the list of 10 characteristics which emerged from the focus groups, interviews with 103 employees and community members, and 206 responses to an online survey.  "There is somewhat of a level of anxiety in the community of who's going to take over, what kind of person is …

The district is holding a public forum Monday to field input from parents and community members as it continues its search for a new school chief. The district also has a online survey available.

What characteristics would you like to see in Fox Point-Bayside's next superintendent? School officials want to know.  The district is holding a public forum 7 p.m. Monday at Stormonth Elementary, 7301 N. Longacre Rd., to field public input as it begins its search for a new school chief. Search firm — Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates — has been hired to aid in the search for a new district head and will gather opinions of parents and community member at the meeting. Combine the Superintendents job and the business mgr. job. Or as Michele said have a Superintendent that works all three schools. Less chiefs and more Indians (teachers) so we could continue with smaller class sizes which could give more individual help per students etc: Or you could use the money saved to put back into the class rooms. Like more computers, smart boards, repairs needed for the …   more ›
