Man Swipes and Pawns Ex-Wife's Jewelry

Police say a Cudahy man stole items from his ex-wife's Bayside home, then pawned them for cash.

A 46-year-old Cudahy man is accused of stealing from his ex-wife’s Bayside home, then pawning the items for cash. Richard A. Eckart was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Sunday with one count of theft. If convicted, he faces up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On Aug. 22, a woman living in the 8900 block of Navajo Road contacted the Bayside Police Department after she discovered four items missing from her jewelry box. The woman said she had suspected her ex-husband in the theft and after confronting him, he admitted he took the items and pawned them. Officers checked the Northeastern Wisconsin Property Reporting System and discovered Eckart had pawned 30 items in the two weeks …

PD: Thief Slips in Unlocked Door, Snatches Kindle

Fox Point man told police the first time he noticed his back door open he thought it was the wind. Then he noticed the missing Kindle.

An 81-year-old Fox Point man is the most recent victim in a rash of thefts from North Shore homes while the owners were nearby.  The called Fox Point police and said on Oct. 15, sometime in the morning, he noticed the rear door to his home in the 7500 block of North Seneca Road was open and unlocked, according to police reports.  He told police both he and his wife didn’t think much of the open door since they thought the wind may have pushed it open during the night, the report said. However, when he began to look for his Kindle Fire tablet, valued at $100, on Oct. 21, he couldn’t find it. Police: Grandparents Scammed for Nearly $11,000

A Fox Point couple was scammed out of nearly $11,000 after their "granddaughter" called crying that she was arrested in Canada. Their real granddaughter was actually safe in Maryland, and the scammers made off the with cash.

A elderly Fox Point couple was taken for nearly $11,000 when someone posing as their granddaughter called crying, saying she'd been arrested in Canada.  The woman told Fox Point police the afternoon of Oct. 19, she received a phone call from someone posing as her granddaughter. The “granddaughter” was crying on the phone and said that she was in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada, and had just been arrested. She said she and some friends were in Canada attending a funeral of another friend, when they were stopped by police. According to the Fox Point police report, the caller said her friend who owned the vehicle did not have proper license and registration, so the local police searched the car and located cocaine inside. Yard Furniture Yanked From Fox Point Apartment

Someone made off with nearly $1,000 in lawn furniture stolen from the parking garage at the Portico's Apartments on Bradley Road. About one week later, some of the furniture was returned.

Sometimes keeping things under lock and key just isn't enough.  A resident at the Portico's Apartments, 500 W. Bradley Rd., reported that someone stole a set of Homecrest yard furniture, valued at nearly $1,000, from the locked, underground parking garage at her apartment complex.  She told police someone had stolen one outdoor chase lounge chair cushion, valued at $299, one outdoor chair seat cushion, valued at $229, and an ottoman, valued at $329, also with a cushion. The total value of the furniture comes to $927 the police report said.  On Thursday, Fox Point police were advised that the chase lounger and cushions were returned, however, the ottoman is still missing. 

Cash Stolen From Lubavitch Preschool

Two thefts totaled $33 in cash stolen from the preschool's office.

A local preschool on the Fox Point and Whitefish Bay border fell victim to some petty theft, even though the stolen cash was kept locked in the office.  Just before 10 a.m. on Oct. 16, a staff member at Lubavitch Preschool, 6401 N. Santa Monica Blvd., stopped into the Fox Point Police Department to report the theft.  She told police that two thefts had occurred, the first on Oct. 9 and the second on Oct. 10, both from the same location – the secretary's desk in the preschools office the police report said.  In both thefts, small amounts of money were taken from a yellow envelope that was left in a filer on top of the desk. $1,000 Reward Offered for Tips in Nicolet Theft, Damage Investigation

The Glendale Police Department is looking for tips regarding all the incidents of vandalism and thefts at Nicolet High School during Homecoming Week.

Do you know anything about who vandalized Nicolet High School? If you do, you could get up to a $1,000.  The Glendale Police Department is looking for any information regarding the damage and thefts that took place during Homecoming Week at Nicolet. The North Shore Crime Stoppers — a group of citizens who raise funds as cash rewards for people able to furnish information about crime — is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of those responsible.  The school liaison officer said Glendale police are investigating theft and damage, but the department has not released any official documents about the crimes. Rogaine and Razors Swiped From Fox Point CVS

The store manager supplied a physical description of the suspect to police and yes, he did have hair. An estimated $1,000 in razors and hair-growth product were stolen.

A CVS Pharmacy store manager reported a theft of Rogaine and razors to Fox Point police, and included with the report was a physical description of the suspect, who did in fact have hair.  According to the report: The CVS store manager told police at 4 p.m. on Aug. 31 that the suspect came into the store looking suspicious. So, the manager followed the man around the store while tending to other duties. The suspect had a shopping basket filled with a bunch of shaving razors and hair care products.  The suspect dumped the items into a white plastic shopping bag. When the manager went to pick up the bag, the suspect took the bag before the manager could get to it. The man said he had already paid for the items, and the manager said they …

Police: Tools Snatched From Truck Parked at NSB

The thief took off with numerous Milwaukee, Craftsman, Vice Grip and Channel Lock brand tools, but left behind a laptop computer.

A Delafield man's tools were snatched from his truck bed while he was at NSB Bar & Grill, but the thief left behind a laptop he also had stowed away. According to the report: A 54-year-old Delafield man had stopped at the restaurant around noon on Thursday, putting his computer bag in the covered bed of his pickup truck. When he returned, the tailgate was open and his toolbox was missing. He told Fox Point police the computer bag was still in the truck bed, but because of the dark color, it was not easily noticeable in the covered bed he told police. The toolbox contained a Milwaukee brand 18-volt, cordless drill and two batteries, as well as numerous Craftsman, Vice Grip and Channel Lock brand hand tools. There is no estimate at this time…

'Desperate' Man Stole, Pawned $6K of Ex-Wife's Jewelry

The ex-husband of the Fox Point woman told police he's suffering from bi-polar disorder and that he needs help after 20 items were eventually discovered missing.

A Fox Point woman came home to find thousands of dollars worth of jewlery missing from her home. But this wasn't an unknown thief; her ex-husband admittely took the jewlery and pawned it at a nearby shop. According to the report: A 50-year-old Fox Point woman told Fox Point Police Saturday she came home to discover four pieces of jewelry were missing. Her ex-husband, a 46-year-old Milwaukee man, admitted to stealing the jewelry and pawning in a face-to-face conversation with her but wouldn't tell her which pawn shop he took the items to so she could get them back.  Here's a breakdown of what was reported missing: She told police she checked the rest of the house but didn’t notice anything else missing or out of place. Police Investigating Laptop Thefts at Best Buy

Two women took them into the bathroom and walked out without any merchandise. Surveillance footage shows one woman put her shoulder bag in the trunk of her car when she left. In total, Best Buy is facing a loss of nearly $1,700.

Best Buy was the target of another theft this week when two women made off with three laptops, a total loss of nearly $1,700. This incident exactly two weeks after a 22-year-old Mequon man thought he could sneak out of Best Buy with some video games jammed into his pants. According to the report: A loss prevention employee told Fox Point police around 1 p.m., three laptops were stolen from the store on Aug. 20. Two, Toshiba Satellite laptops valued at $399.99 each and one, Samsung laptop, valued at $849.99 The surveillance footage shows a car pull up with two women, one looking to be in her thirties, the other in her forties, get out of the car and enter the store.
