Photos: Construction Will Soon Come to a Close for Local Streets

Village streets get a facelift in Bayside.

Construction continues along Bayside Drive, Tennyson Drive, and West Ellsworth Lane. Stark Asphalt began paving Tennyson Drive and Standish Place, as well as Bayside Drive on Thursday. The final lift of asphalt will likely be laid on West Ellsworth Lane early next week. In addition, Praeger Excavation continues their ditching and area regrading along both Bayside Drive and Tennyson Drive to aid in stormwater drainage. After all of the ditching maintenance has been completed, a landscape contractor will be on site to finish all restoration and seeding as needed.   While work was expected to be completed by Friday, some road integrity issues have delayed the project by only a few days. Keep up-to-date with the most recent project timelines …

We have hit 400 views...& most of the situations highlighted above (except for a few pool changes) are still occurring in full force. It only takes ~40 minutes to do a complete drive thru of the village, not too tough. http://www.flickr.com/photos/53698684@N04/   more ›

Public Policy Forum Recognizes Bayside for Its Fiscal Creativity

Village of Bayside wins Innovative Response to Tough Budget Times honor.

Has your village saved you money? Bayside has for its residents. Going green and saving taxpayer dollars despite the economic downturn has snagged the Village of Bayside the Innovative Response to Tough Budget Times Award. "As government and government employes, it hasn’t been the easiest time as of late with all the anti-governmental sentiment," Bayside Village Manager Andy Pederson said. "This truly recognizes some of the things governments are doing in a positive manner to maintain costs and maintain service as well." The award was presented by the Public Policy Forum, a nonpartisan group that conducts policy research on a wide range of issues impacting Wisconsin. Since they don't manufacture those little carts that were used for pick up anymore and the maintenance costs were extremely expensive for the existing ones, then switching to trucks that are automated/ have arms to pick up trash along the street seems pretty obvious. I think they've been doing that in Shorewood for at least 20 years. How about utilizing some of the Villages resources to prevent …   more ›

Villages' Voices Ring Loud in Opposition to County Board Redistricting

Fox Point and Bayside both approve resolution against proposed changes. Fox Point even hears from Supervisor Joe Rice.

Fox Point and Bayside have joined the throng of voices against the tentative redistricting plan drawn by the Milwaukee County Board. With both village boards voting unanimously, each has passed a resolution opposing the County Board's plan to break up the existing North Shore representation. Fox Point and Bayside would both be slipped into a district that would include Brown Deer, River Hills, part of Whitefish Bay, six wards in the City of Glendale and nine wards in the City of Milwaukee. Shorewood and the southern part of Whitefish Bay would be part of a different district. However, Fox Point Village President Michael West said when he thinks of the North Shore, he thinks of the North Shore Fire Department which serves Bayside, Brown …
