Four student-athletes signed letters of intent Friday for St. Louis University, University of Iowa, University of Akron and McHenry College.
In front of around 60 friends, family, and coaches inside the D-Wing Library of Nicolet High School, four student-athletes signed their letters of intent Thursday. Briana Gray (Basketball, St. Louis University), Calli Head (Diving, University of Iowa), Jessica Kloehn (Volleyball, University of Akron) and CJ Putterman (Baseball, McHenry College) all signed their letters of intent to commit to those universities. Chris Dempsey is Calli Head's diving coach and said she's a "great asset to the team." Gray had transferred into Nicolet before the 2011 season and made an immediate impact. 200 medley relay team sets new school record.

The girls swim team season this year was very successful. At Saturday's WIAA Sectional meet at Cedarburg High School, the 200 medley relay relay team of Grace Wilkie, Sophia Jokumsen, Sarah Zelazoski, and Christa Rumbaugh set a new school records, however it wasn't fast enough to qualify for the state meet. Qualifying for state, however, were Kim Charles in diving and Christa Rumbaugh who bettered her top five board times in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. The dance team competed in their first dance competition this past weekend at the annual MSOE Raider Invitational, placing second overall in the high school pom division. Here is a roundup of sports events for the last week at Nicolet High School, courtesy of Athletic Director Kirk Krychowiak: The Nicolet girls tennis team defeated Middleton on Friday in the first round of the WIAA State girls tennis team tournament 5-2 then went on to defeat DSHA 4-3 in the semifinals on Saturday and advance to the final round against Homestead. The team lost to Homestead 5-2 and took second in state. The No. 3 doubles team of Claire Maxon and Mercedes Halaska beat the No. 3 doubles team of Homestead. The No. 2 doubles team of Michelle Margolies and Erin Wathen beat the No. 2 doubles team of Homestead. Here is a roundup of sports events for the last week at Nicolet High School, courtesy of Athletic Director Kirk Krychowiak: The Nicolet boys and girls cross country teams headed north to Fond du Lac and met wet and sloppy conditions for the first time this year. Leading the Knights on the boys side were Josh Greenberg with an 11th place finish and for the girls Lauren Cunningham who finished 5th overall. Highlights of the meet were strong runs by Liam Raasch, Rebecca Lubar, Martha Herrenbruck, and Naomi Arenzon on the JV side. The next meet is at Waterford this Thursday and then the North Shore Conference Championships next Saturday. Here is a roundup of sports events for the last week at Nicolet High School, courtesy of Athletic Director Kirk Krychowiak: Boys and Girls Cross Country The Nicolet boys and girls cross country teams had fantastic showings at the Whitefish Bay invite at Kletszch Park. The girls finished fourth out of 15 teams. The varsity team was lead by Lauren Cunningham who finished sixth overall, they also had strong finishes by Christie Crossman and Tiffany Pigg. The JV squad had big PR's by Jordy Borneman and April Pigg and was capped off by an individual win by Allison Maling. Nicolet beats West Bend West then loses to Pius in elimination round.
The Nicolet girls volleyball team reached the semifinals of the competitive Lancer Invitational at Brookfield Central on Saturday. The Knights were 2-1 in their pool, playing Muskego, Brookfield East and Greenfield. In the quarterfinals, they defeated West Bend West 25-17, 19-25, 16-14 before falling to Pius in a tight match, 27-25, 23-25, 15-12, in the semifinals. Pius lost to Brookfield Central in the championship match.
