Pouring Rain Puts DPW Crews Out on the Street

Heavy rainfall Tuesday and Wednesday left many Fox Point and Bayside yards over saturated and brimming with water. Some residents are even joking they've recently installed a "pool." Take a look and add your own photo to the mix!

Bayside Village Manager Andy Pederson reported Wednesday that DPW crews were out clearing culverts during more heavy rainfall in the early morning.  "If you have an area that is backing up in the public right-of-way, please call at 351-8813 and crews will be directed to that area as soon as possible," Pederson said in an e-mail.   The village is continuing to keep residents updated with posts to the Village of Bayside Facebook page.  Deputy Village Manager Alex Henderson said the biggest issue this time of year is clogged culverts and catch basins.  "Any helps from residents keeping (these) clear is appreciated while crews work throughout the village," Henderson said.  Residents should also make sure their sump pump outlet is not under …

About 75 We Energies Customers Without Electricity For Over An Hour

The weather caused a tree to fall on a primary electric line causing about 75 customers to be without electricity.

About 75 homes on North Regent Road and North Fairway Drive were without power at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. However, the issue has been resolved and the power has been restored, according to Cathy Schulze. "Looks like a tree fell on a primary power line in the area," Schulze said. "We believe it was weather related.

UPDATE: Overnight Power Outage in Bayside Restored in about 2 Hours

Residents at Bayside Woods Condominiums lost power between 11:15 p.m. Tuesday and 1:30 a.m. Thursday due to an underground cable fault.

Updated 9:58 a.m. Wednesday: An overnight power outage in Bayside on Tuesday. was restored after about 2 hours and 15 minutes. WE Energies spokesman Brian Manthey said 722 customers lost power at 11:16 p.m. due to an underground cable fault. All customers were restored by 1:30 a.m. WE Energies outage map showed of the 2,046 customers served in Bayside, 719 were without power as of 11:16 p.m. Tuesday night. Three locations were under investigation by WE Energies — the Bayside Woods Condominiums off Fairy Chasm and Port Washington Roads, as well as Fairy Chasm Road near Rexleigh Drive and near Jonathan Lane.  Bayside Village Manager Andy Pederson asks that concerned residents look to WE Energies, 800-662-4797, for updates on the power …

We Energies Continues To Warn Of Scammers

Customers get alert when paying their bill on the utility company's website.

We Energies continues to alert customers of a scam that promises to pay utility bills through federal stimulus money offered by the Obama administration.  The utility company has placed an alert on its Web site telling customers who pay their bill online of the threat.  The notice reads: "Alert: A scam promising federal money to pay utility bills has been discovered. No such program exists, and payments made using bank routing numbers in the scam will be rejected. Please use your current banking information to make online payments." We Energies' spokesperson Cathy Schulze said Tuesday the alert was placed on the site in response to a nationwide scam that arose a few weeks ago.  "Fortunately we did not see a huge impact here with our …

More Than 100 Bayside Residents Without Power Wednesday Night

WE Energies says a homeowner or landscaper hit an underground cable around 5:30 p.m. All 139 residents had power restored by 9 p.m.

After 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, 139 Bayside residents were without power after a homeowner or landscaper hit an underground cable while digging post holes.  WE Energies spokesman Brian Manthey says no one was injured, but the incident began on East Brown Deer Road near Lake Drive. Power was restored to all customers by 9 p.m. WE Energies recommends calling the Wisconsin Diggers Hotline, 800-242-8511 or 811, before digging near any possible sources of power. 

Blown Transformer in Fox Point Leaves a Handful Without Power

From Fox Point to all the way to Oak Creek, another 400 customers were without power Tuesday night from a single downed ash tree.

A transformer blew on Santa Monica Boulevard in Fox Point Tuesday night, leaving nearby residents concerned when they saw flames at the top of the electrical pole.  Finn McFadyen's grandmother lives on Santa Monica Boulevard just two houses down from where the transformer blew. He said they came home to find firefighters and an ambulance outside, with emergency personnel walking through the neighborhood looking for the outage.  "I went in the back yard, and I saw something I thought was a fire," McFadyen said. "Then I saw the neighbor, who was out in her back yard, and she said there's a fire or something in the (power lines)."  McFadyen shared a picture with Patch, showing the blown transformer ablaze and dripping burning oil the pole.  "…

200 Fox Point and Bayside Residents Without Power

While temperatures hover in the 80s, many residents are without power - which means no lights, no air conditioners and no fans.

As of 9 p.m. Tuesday evening, a total of 200 residents throughout Fox Point and Bayside are without power.  The WE Energies outage map shows outages scattered across Bayside including along North Fairway Drive, North Port Washington Road and West Fairy Chasm Road. There are another 17 customers without power in Fox Point however, those outages are not specified on the map.  Bayside Village Manager Andy Pederson asks that concerned residents look to WE Energies, 800-662-4797, for updates on the power outages and to not contact the police dispatch lines unless there is a real emergency.  WE Energies recommends staying away from any downed wires and anything that may be touching damaged lines.   Currently, all the outages are under …

UPDATED: 112 Bayside Residents Without Power

All outages are under investigation and Village Manager Andy Pederson reminds residents to look to WE Energies for updates and not to flood dispatch.

Updated: As of 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, power was restored to all Bayside residents. More than 100 were without power from the severe thunderstorms that swept through southeast Wisconsin Monday evening. "WE Energies is on site to restore power to those affected by tonight's storms that passed through the area," Village Manager Andy Pederson said.  The WE Energies outage map shows of the 2,052 customers served in Bayside, 112 are without power as of 10 p.m. Monday night. Last Chance: Get Caught Up on Energy Bills Before You Get Disconnected

WE Energies launching "Stay Connected" campaign and those in severe arrears as of April 16 will face disconnection.

Are you paid up on your WE Energies bills? If not, you could face disconnection on Monday. WE Energies has launched their "Stay Connected" campaign, using phone calls, bill inserts and other messaging alerts to inform customers who are in severe arrears to get caught up on their bills before disconnections begin Monday, according to a press release. “If customers are struggling to pay their energy bills, they should not hesitate to call us,” said Joan Shafer, senior vice president of customer services said in the release. “Our goal is to work with customers so they can maintain their service year-round.” Customers who are in need of payment options and further assistance can contact WE Energies at 1-800-842-4565.

Weekend Snow Storm, Heavy Winds Leave Toppled Trees Throughout Fox Point

Roughly 200 Fox Point residents were without power for a few hours over the weekend.

It's late in the evening, quiet and dark outside. You're watching television and suddenly you hear a loud crack, crash and boom! That's when you realize, the tree outside your living room window just fell, crashing into your home. That's what Fox Point resident Rachael Herrenbruck experienced during the weekend's snow storms that blanketed southeast Wisconsin in heavy, wet snow. "At first it sounded like snow sliding off the roof, but then the bigger branches came down and we all ducked like that would save us," Herrenbruck said.
