Assassination Email Hoax Targets Bayside Residents

Police Chief Bruce Resnick warns residents to be cognizant of fraudulent emails.

An email claiming plans to assasinate a Bayside resident was turned over by that resident to Bayside police last week. Bayside Police Chief Bruce Resnick said due to the poor English, it's very clearly a hoax. The email says, in part: "Am very sorry for you my friend, is a pity that this is how your life is going to end as soon as you don't comply. As you can see there is no need of introducing myself to you because l don‘t have any business with you, my duty as l am mailing you now is just to KILL/ASSASINATE (SIC) you and l have to doit (SIC) as I have already been paid for that." "Ignore it," Resnick said. "It should be obvious by the poor English and the ploy that it's a hoax. Residents can also Google the name or go to snopes.com for …

Speed Trailer Study Shows Faster Speeds

Even with trailers out to monitor speeds, drivers still speeding.

Bayside Police are using a $15,000 piece of equipment that is supposed to force motorists to slow their speeds down. Bayside’s speed trailer is part of a federally granted radar program that shows the speed of the car; the other side of the board can display messages for anything from traffic messages to more dramatic things. Bayside’s Police Department website has an interactive map that shows where the trailers have been, the average speeds, and the number of cars that have been recorded by the trailer.  There are 12 points on the map currently, and not all of the average speeds are lower than the speed limit for the road. Of the 12 speed trailers, eight of them recorded average speeds that were over the posted speed limit. “They do help…

Students Shop With Fox Point, Bayside Cops Saturday

Fox Point and Bayside police joined forces with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office Saturday to take 75 kids out for breakfast and a little holiday shopping.

Fox Point police officer Jenny Smith and Bayside officer Cory Fuller spent Saturday morning helping kids pick out Christmas presents for friends, family and themselves during Shop With A Cop, organized by the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.  “This is a great opportunity to make a child’s holiday a little brighter,” Sheriff Daivd Clarke said in a press release. “If we influence children early, we can forge a positive perception of law enforcement officers that will last a lifetime.”   On Saturday, 75 kids between the ages of 5 and 13 were paired up with an officer, then took a charter bus to the Sheraton Milwaukee Brookfield Hotel. The morning kicked off with a big breakfast and was followed by trip to Walmart where each child was able …

Cops: Drunken Driver Abandons Part of the Alphabet

After the driver was arrested for OWI, the passenger, his brother, admitted to drinking that evening as well and was sent to the Open Pantry to wait for a ride home.

Two men driving a white Jeep were seen swerving on Interstate 43 near Brown Deer Road and caught the attention of Bayside Police early Nov. 17. Police pulled the car over on North Port Washington Road. As the officer spoke with the 23-year-old driver, he noticed the man’s eyes were glassy and his speech was slurred. He could also smell alcohol on the man’s breathe as well as from inside the car. The officer asked the man for his driver’s license and whether or not he had been drinking earlier that night. He fumbled with his license before saying he'd had, “a few drinks down on Water Street for his friend’s birthday.” Police asked him if he knew the alphabet, asking the driver to begin with the letter “C.” The driver said, “C,D,E,F,G,” then…

From Driver's Seat, 'I'm Not Driving' Story Doesn't Hold Up

Surveillance footage showed a man try twice to pump gas at the Open Pantry, then drive off when he was denied without prepayment. The footage blew up the story that he wasn't driving the car.

A 29-year-old Milwaukee man had a run-in with Bayside Police, whose attempts at pumping gas at Open Pantry led to a citation for operating without a license.  An Open Pantry employee called Bayside Police at 1:15 a.m. Nov. 12 to report a gas drive-off. When officers arrived, the employee said a man had driven to the gas station on two occasions that night, then left after the employee told the man he would have to prepay for gas because his car only had a temporary license plate, the police report said. Police found a car matching the description the employee gave sitting on the side of the road in the 9100 block of North Port Washington Road. They walked up to the car and the driver, later identified as a 29-year-old Milwaukee man, said …

McDonald's Manager Supplies Employee With Bail Money

After getting pulled over for expired registration, this McDonald's employee went to his manager for bail money to cover a warrant he had through Brown Deer police.

After a run-in with Bayside police, a McDonald's employee got a "Get Out of Jail Free" card from his manager.  Just before 10 a.m. on Thursday, a Bayside officer was stopped at a traffic light at Port Washington and Brown Deer Roads and ran the license plate of the car in front of him. The registration had expired in August the police report said.  When the light turned green, the car drove off and into the McDonald’s parking lot, 8739 N. Port Washington Rd. The officer pulled the car over and when he spoke to the driver, the man said the car belonged to his girlfriend’s grandmother. The 24-year-old Wauwatosa man was not only driving a car with expired registration, but his license had expired in 2011 and he had a warrant through Brown …

Drunk Driver Suspect in Bayside Ditch Swears He's Home in Pewaukee

He tried to wave off the man knocking on his car window until he realized it was a police officer. Then he rolled down the wrong window and dropped the credit card he tried to hand over as ID.

A Pewaukee man swore over and over again to Bayside police early Saturday morning he was at home in Pewaukee - really, he was in a ditch along Lake Drive.  Police found the silver Ford Focus on the west side of the road in a patch of trees facing near East Donges Bay Road and North Lake Drive around 6 a.m. There was a man sleeping in the driver’s seat according to the police report. An officer knocked on the window for about a minute but the man didn’t move. The report says he eventually turned his head and waved for the officer to go away. After several more attempts, he finally realized the man knocking on his window was a police officer and he began to open his window. He opened the rear window first, then the front drivers side. The …

Two Dozen Eggs Cost Five Teens $681 Each

Police cited five teenage boys from four Milwaukee-area communities for tossing eggs at passing cars.

Five teens from four towns snagged $681 citations for damage to property after police say they egged oncoming cars traveling along Lake Drive.  A 51-year-old Fox Point man called Bayside police just after 10 p.m. Saturday to report that his car had just been egged — and he knew exactly who had done it.  He said as he was driving down North Fairway Circle when a car passed and someone inside threw an egg at his car. He told police he turned around and saw that same car pull into a driveway and quickly take off the other way, at 50 to 60 mph. He gave the license plate to police, along with the car’s make and model, the police report said. Officers took pictures of the damage caused by the eggs and recovered two empty cartons of eggs from the…
