Clerk's Offices Open on Good Friday As Early Voting Ends

Friday is the last day for residents to vote early in-person for Tuesday's election and clerks' offices across the state, including Fox Point and Bayside's, are required to be open.

With the spring election on Tuesday, muncipal clerks' offices across the state — including Shorewood — are required to be open on Good Friday. The clerk’s office in Fox Point and Bayside will be open for in-person absentee voting and other election details that day. Friday is the deadline for in-person voting. You may also cast an absentee ballot by mail, but it must be postmarked no later than Tuesday. Here is more information on voting early in Wisconsin. UPDATED: Bayside Trustee Candidate Kelly Herda Has Paid Delinquent Taxes

The Bayside Village Board candidate has been delinquent on her property taxes for seven years, but the bills and penalties were eventually paid in full.

This story was updated at 9:55 p.m. to include a statement from Herda. Bayside Village Board candidate Kelly Herda's personal financial tax records have come under scrutiny, due to articles and comments in the opinion section of local publications. A look through online tax records confirms Herda has been delinquent on her property tax payments for seven of the 13 years she has lived in Bayside. Despite the late payments, Herda has paid all of her property taxes, interests and penalties in full every year. This year, Herda was a month late and $87 short on her first installment, but as of Monday, she has paid the full amount due, including $104.83 in interest and penalties. Herda has also incurred interests and penalties as a result of …

To me this is just a way to side track the issues that Mrs. Herda is trying to bring to our communities attention. It is an outrage that this has taken forefront over the actual good Mrs. Herda has done for our school boards and communities. I believe she will be a great change to our board, a well needed change in my opinion, and she has my vote this Tuesday!   more ›

Bayside Voting Operations Move to Middle School Gymnasium

Bayside voters will still go to the middle school for the February primaries, but they will be headed to a different entrance to access the gymnasium.

Bayside's polling booths will move from the Bayside Middle School multi-purpose room to the school's gymnasium for the Feb. 19 primary election. Bayside officials and Fox Point-Bayside school officials announced the change in the village's sole polling location Thursday. According to a news release, voting operations will remain at Bayside Middle School, but will be moved from the multi-purpose room, which was accessed through the south entrance (Standish Place entrance); to the gymnasium, located on the north side of the building (Ellsworth Lane). The move helps provide easier access for voters, additional room for voting equipment and poll workers, and also provides an added aspect of security to the Bayside Middle School building, …

Terrible idea! The Bayside gymnasium is a classroom that is suppose to keep kids moving and active. The physical education curriculum has many other interuptions during the school year due to concerts, programs and other school activities. Now they will be losing 3 more days of running their classes during the year.   more ›
