ReplyI can tell you that the staff is elated. I walked in today and they were all smiles and very happy that he is leaving. It felt like the old Stormonth. Pre Rachel and Westfahl. He did not communicate well with the staff. One down one to go not including bad board members.

ReplyCM,
After touring Mapledale, I'm sure they do not want their school ruined. We don't need after school programs, we need to have the programs stay as is. I moved here because of the school system I don't need some high school/ college idiot teaching my child in some after school program. I'm paying taxes to have it done during the school day, by a degreed licensed teaching professional. The private schools in the area offer all the programs during the school day and what's more is they have more technology. If you don't like our schools so much, why don't you use a voucher and send your kids to MPS.

ReplyCM,
Really? You are really going to go there. Rachel apologist! Are you going to sell your home and work with Rachel at the non-for-profit Seattle pot smoking group for peace? Look at Mapldale you dim whit. They have less enrollment and money and they are still able to maintain their Arts, Music, and Physical Education programs. They have not had to cut staff or programs. Some of the staff performs dual roles. The principle is the Superintendent. Take a tour of the school and you will be amazed. We did. We don't need a Curriculum Director. I'm sure there are other positions that can be doubled up. Superintendents do not need to make over a 100,000 in salary. What's sad is the next person they bring in will probably make more than Rachel. How is that fair, when teachers are going to lose their jobs? Wow mom, so easy to blame the teachers! Go back and look at the Greek Philosophers they were the pillars of their society people of knowledge that taught. This is the only country that treats their teachers poorly. Why do you think the US lags behind so many countries in Math and Science? The kids are spoiled and the parents treat the teaching profession as a necessary evil. Go back to the South I'm sure you'll like the schools down there much better. Oh wait, just stay here and you won't have to wait long before the same standards down there get enacted up here. Don't use caps in your postings it make you look under educated.

ReplyC. I'm sure the public is already alarmed, when they are reading about teacher layoffs, cuts to Art, Music, and Physical Education. We need to keep the pressure on Rachel and the bad board members until they capitulate.

ReplyDavid,
Don't waste your time with the detractors. I see the meeting posted on the calendar. Hopefully they will add more information as time gets closer. We also need them to communicate the meeting to the public. Another thing that might be in our favor is that Rachel's replacement should be hired by the 21st and we should request their presence at the meeting. Anything we can do to push Rachel out before August will also help.

ReplyThe Board is meeting to conduct private conferences with several teachers pursuant to Section
118.22, Wis. Stats., and to consider whether to nonrenew their teaching contracts for the 2013-14
school year. The Board will meet with its attorney and conduct deliberations at various points
during the meeting. The Board will not be conducting any evidentiary hearings during this
meeting. In the event a teacher has requested that the Board conduct the conference in public, the
Board will conduct that portion of the meeting in open session, and return to closed session as
provided above for deliberations and discussions with its attorney.
Following the private conferences with the teachers, the Board will either return to or remain in
closed session as provided above to consider the nonrenewal recommendations and then return to
open session to take action on the recommendation for nonrenewal of the teachers’ contracts.
5. The School Board will reconvene into Open Session at approximately 6:30 p.m. to conduct
nonrenewal conferences in Open Session at the request of several staff members.

Good riddance! Let her help ruin another school system. I'm surprised Rachel didn't bring her along to her Peace Group for Non-Violence.
