ReplyNo matter the district, there are too many suspensions meaning that there is a general lack of respect for each other and adults. This all starts at home!!!!

The Donny Show doesn't know what he's talking about. The students who are in high school now are not products of Walker's educational policies or lack there of. They received their start during administrations that valued education and the funding of education. Some people (trolls) are commenting just to see their nom de plumes on the Patch.

ReplyJust goes to show that, when you run a school district with a skeletal crew, you leave it wide open for fraud.

Dung (AKA troll), that's the pot calling the kettle black. Your nom de plume is all over the Patch. I usually don't post more than once or twice a week. You, however, respond daily and sometimes more than once. I did not say anything hateful above. I only stated the facts as I see them.

Reply@Sunrocket, get real. The economy was dead when Obama took office. The only bullet that the Republicans dodged was taking office after Bush so that they could be blamed for the nightmare. Our disastrous economy and educational system was preyed upon by the Republicans before Obama ever reached office starting with William Bennett as secretary of education. You need to get your facts straight.

ReplyLet me know where I can sign! I know it's a futile exercise as the Republicans will ignore it. We're persona non grata in Shorewood and the only people who respond to us are the "Republican trolls" on the Patch. At least we'll be able to say "I told you so" when our public schools fall apart due to the mismanagement of the Republicans. What the conservatives need to realize is that not everyone in the US and Wisconsin are affiliated with a religion. Even if they are affiliated, not all religions have private schools, and their members don't want their children educated in another religion. Furthermore, with our poor economy, most people don't have the funds up front to send their children to private schools even with a tax credit. Unfortunately, we're going to have to live through the Republican nightmare. Let's hope it's not irreparable.
Look at Indiana as an example of what NOT TO DO. My son lives in Indiana and his fiancee teaches in the public schools. It's a disaster and the students are getting cheated out of an education. The fact is, money is not the only bottom line. The future of our children is.

On the article Would a Tax Credit Get You to Send Your Child to Private School?

ReplyLet's exam the reasoning behind this bill. It costs about $9000 to educate a public school student. If we give a $2500 tax credit to the parents who "PAY" to send their child to a private school, who comes out ahead? Public schools offer more than just education, they also have specialty teachers for students who have special needs. Most private schools do not have reading specialists, exceptional ed teachers, learning disability teachers, English as a second language teachers, etc. Having a tax credit will not put these programs in private schools. What happens to the student whose parents can't afford to send their children to private school? We are headed toward making our public education system even worse for the disenfranchised, poor students. It's another selfish attempt by the right to get theirs and the rest can fend for themselves.

ReplyI saw the officer take down the man with the cane after he attacked the officer. The officer should be commended for his professionalism. I was worried that the officer would be injured, but his training kicked in. Even after being attacked, the officer showed concern for the attacker.
