Yom, those numbers and expansion of the voting bases are calculated before any proposed legislation is enacted.

ReplyIn 2016 the generation of Millennial voters who voted democratic 66% to 34% in 2012 will grow by another 11 million voters. The percentage of minority voters, who voted overwhelmingly democratic, will grow again in 2016 (by 2050 they will be in the majority). Almost half of all women voters are unmarried women, a group that voted 66% democratic in the last three elections. College graduates with four year degrees voted democratic. Young women professionals (colleges are now 56% female) voted democratic. So the question would be, what are the platforms Gov. Walker would run on that would convince these growing voter bases to shift their votes to the GOP? Most of the research suggests a moderation of views and positions, especially on social issues is the only way the GOP can win a national presidential election. This would seem to run counter to Gov. Walker's positions and patterns, and would irritate his conservative base greatly. Since the GOP base is not growing as quickly, the only way the GOP conservative wins is if a large portion of the democratic base sits out or if the laws are changed to restrict voting or change the way electoral votes are distributed.

Actually, NObama, the way the districts are gerrymandered makes it likely that this trend will grow. In the same way Romney received no votes in urban wards, Obama received no votes in wards in Utah, Oklahoma and Mississippi. Are you suggesting there is rampant fraud in those wards as well?

ReplySo a guy steals $919 from a Starbucks he works at and faces a dozen years in prison. This woman takes $81,000 and gets a year work release. Seems logical.

Reply" A number of team players have come out in the defense of the coach, reported SB Nation." And 4 players have left the program including one with only 4 games let in the season.

Your reference to children with special needs is disgusting. Perhaps you should volunteer for your local Special Olympics and see what joy really looks like.

Well that would be an additional 11 million then, if eligible to vote. The 11 million increase I site originally refers to the growth in the Millennial voter, not the minority/immigrant voter. The Millennial generation (those born between 1978 and 2000) is adding 4 million eligible voters to the voting pool every year, and this group voted for Obama by a 66-32 margin in 2008. By 2020—the first presidential election in which all Millennials will have reached voting age—this generation will be 103 million strong, and about 90 million of them will be eligible voters. Those 90 million Millennial eligible voters will represent just under 40 percent of America’s total eligible voters. The Millennial generation is also the most racially and ethnically diverse. Among the issues this generation support, most run contrary to current conservative doctrine:
84 percent agree that “We should do everything we can to make sure that people who want to use prescription birth control have affordable access to it and that cost is not an obstacle”
62 percent of young people favor allowing gay and lesbian couples to get married.
75 percent of Millennials are more likely to call for increased government involvement in improving public schools.
This is but one subgroup. The other voting blocks that were the difference in this past presidential campaign are also growing and hold similar progressive views.
